Game On!
This last game night was one of my favorites! Perhaps everyone was just penting up their gaming energy over the holiday break or something. It must have been a record for the largest assortment of games played in one night. Everywhere I looked there was one form or another of gaming taking place.
The hosts of game night have a vision for the future of the game night community, and if you're reading this blog post, then you are a part of that vision. We feel that if we have so much fun playing games, then there are sure to be more gamers out there that can share in our game night fun.
Technology already pushes our game night to the extreme. We can link systems and have sometimes more than eight players involved in the same game! New systems (like the coming Nintendo Revolution) promise to offer this same game feature. With this technology, game night possibilities may be endless. We can push these systems further. Let's picture this for the future of our game night:
Anticipation builds and throughout the day you find your mind focused on one event, the coming game night. Your heart starts to race, and the adrenalin begins to pump fast. Tonight the Cortland Sector will take on the Ithaca Sector in a Halo 3 battle that will long be talked about in the following weeks. You have trained long and hard with your Sector and you feel confident in the battle ahead. Game night arrives and you sit in front of the projector. Your palms begin to moisten over the controller as the remote Xbox systems are linked. Your game will begin in 3...2...1... Game On!
I feel it's getting time to open the floodgate of our gaming community. If you have friends that may be interested in joining the game night fiasco, then please feel free to send me an e-mail with their contact information and we will work to get them invited to the coming game nights.

If this were to build into an organization, starting with people we know and spreading into an international weekly event (which is certainly possible even with current technology) I can already forsee the epic battles. Last Friday was an awful lot of fun, and it's exciting to know that there is plenty more to come.
